Meteorologists are warning northern Minnesota residents to brace for a powerful winter storm expected to arrive late Friday. The National Weather Service forecasts heavy snowfall exceeding 12 inches in some regions, accompanied by wind gusts of 40–50 mph.
Communities from Duluth to the Canadian border are preparing plows, emergency shelters, and communication alerts. State troopers have urged residents to avoid non-essential travel during the peak of the storm, when whiteout conditions are expected to make roads dangerous.
Power outages are also possible as strong winds threaten power lines across forested areas. The storm is expected to taper off by Sunday morning.
